While there are effective supplements that are known to lower LDL (bad) cholesterols while raising HDL (good) cholesterols, if you are currently taking medication you will want to make certain there will be no adverse reactions from taking supplements. Another good supplement that is good is Policosanol. This is made from sugar cane and works by controlling how cholesterol is broken down by the liver. It is used to lower LDL cholesterol while having the ability to raise HDL. Policosanol can also control how much cholesterol is manufactured by the liver.

There are other supplements and nutraceuticals that are known to lower cholesterol levels in the blood as well. Flax Seed is commonly used for this purpose.
