Pregnancy is a special time in every woman’s life. A new life is growing inside her body and she is eagerly anticipating its arrival. She is busy preparing the baby’s room, clothing and other necessities, but at the same time some women take this as an excuse to simply indulge in their favorite treats. Although eating more is necessary in pregnancy, but this does not mean that you excessively eat just anything that you want. Here are a few ways you can avoid putting on those excessive pounds:
Calorie Counting:
You may be eating for two, but this doesn’t mean that you are eating for two adults. Throughout the nine months of pregnancy, your extra caloric intake should not exceed 300-400 calories. You should count your caloric intake with the help of a calorie counter. This way you can have an idea about how many calories you are consuming in a day.
Eat Healthy Fruits and Vegetables:
Your diet should mostly consist of lots of fruits and vegetables. These are packed full of natural minerals, enzymes and vitamins and help keep you fresh and energetic throughout your pregnancy.
Eat healthy carbohydrates:
Avoid white flour and processed carbohydrates and try to consume whole grain breads and cereals instead. Too much sugar should never be consumed in pregnancy as this may cause unnecessary weight gain.
Drink lots of water:
Throughout your nine months, substitute all fizzy and high caffeine drinks with water. There is nothing like pure water to help maintain your freshness thought your pregnancy. Dehydration has also been linked to Urinary Tract Infections and even pre term labor, so make sure you drink lots and lots of water.
Gentle exercise:
Gentle exercise such as walking and swimming can do you a world of good during your crucial nine months. Take the advice of your doctor before starting any exercise routine during pregnancy.
