It is a great source of proteins that are easily digested and along with the Omeag-3 constituents it is also high in Vitamin D, some of the B Vitamins, Vitamin A and minerals such as Zinc, Phosphorus, Selenium, Iron and Calcium.
All of those are necessary for good vison, healthy bones and of course a healthy heart. Zinc is said to be an amazing immunity booster and of course we really need Calcium if we hope to have strong bones and teeth.
Salmon is said to be a ‘brain food.’ It is proven to support a healthy nervous system and has nutrients that support mental clarity as well as cognitive abilities. There is some ongoing research that suggests 2 to 3 servings of Salmon per week can delay the onset of age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
The funny thing about Salmon in the Pacific Northwest is that, unlike other fish, they swim upstream against the current to lay their eggs. It’s sort of like they do for us as regards to aging. They help us to work against the hands of time to delay the onset of dementia and other effects of aging. Salmon help us to swim against the current that would bring us down.
