What Is Good Cholesterol?
Cholesterol we here so much about it and what problems are likely to occur when we have problems with it such a strokes and heart failure. These can occur when we have high bad cholesterol levels, the bad cholesterol is a sticky fat like substance that attaches over time to the wall of our arteries which carry the blood to our heart and brain. When these arteries get constricted and clogged up by bad cholesterol they can and do cause problems with our heart performance, if there is a clot in one of these arteries and it is unable to get through we will then either have a heart attack or a stroke depending on where it is.
So what is so good cholesterol and why do we need to monitor it?
To check our cholesterol levels involves a simple blood test and this will tell us how much of both is in our blood. It has been shown that good cholesterol can reduce the effects of the bad cholesterol. By breaking up the arterial plaque that has formed a sending back to your liver to have it processed and passed out of our bodies with the rest of the junk.
Improving the amount of good HDL cholesterol basically requires you to eat healthier, get some exercise and generally live a healthier lifestyle.
